Foggy Goggles? Discover Anti-Fog

Having foggy goggles is a common issue for swimmers. Foggy goggles can be quite troublesome as they obstruct your clear vision of your swimming direction and any nearby obstacles.

What Causes Fog?

Condensation: When warm, humid air reaches a cold surface, water vapor will settle on the glass surface causing reduced visibility.

Organic: After a couple of usages, skin fat and dead skin can block antifog coating.

Time: Over time, the antifog coating can deteriorate. Many swimmers apply anti-fog treatment to their goggles, such as the Mad Wave Anti-fog Spray or Speedo Anti-fog Spray.

What Is Anti-Fog?

Anti-fog refers to a hydrophilic material layer that is consistently applied to the inner surface of swimming goggles. This layer functions by absorbing moisture, lowering the surface tension of water droplets, and distributing them uniformly across the lens. As a result, it effectively prevents the development of bothersome condensation that hinders visibility.

Many swimming goggles now come with anti-fog technology, such as the Arena Swipe, Speedo Biofuse and Hyper Elite.

How To Reduce Fogging

Before You Swim: Don’t put your goggle in the water before you swim as the anti-fog formula will start being used, reducing the amount of time it will be effective

During Your Swim: Don’t put your goggles on your wet forehead.

After Your Swim: Rinse your goggles with fresh water after use.

After Cleaning: Properly let your goggles air dry after usage.

General Care: Use anti-fog spray after a couple of uses to clean up and revitalise anti-fog coating. Do not touch the inside of your lenses with a cloth as this will wipe away the coating.
