Katie Ledecky has become only the second person in history to be named USA Swimmer of the Year five times.
Ledecky joins Michael Phelps in becoming a five-time recipient of the award, having previously won it for four successive years between 2013 and 2016.
She was denied the clean sweep last year by Caeleb Dressel, but another stunning season in the pool has seen TYR swimmer Ledecky tie with Phelps on the honours board.
No other female swimmer has won the coveted award more than twice.
This year Ledecky won five medals for Team USA at the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships in Tokyo, including three golds in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle.
She smashed her own 1500m free world record by five seconds when she won at the TYR Pro Swim Series at Indianapolis earlier this year.
Ledecky’s victorious time of 15:20.48 was her sixth world record in the event, and the 14th of her career.
In addition to this, she’s won US titles in the 200m, 400m and 800m freestyle at the 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships and claimed the women’s overall TYR Pro Swim Series title.
